Tips for selling your House or Property

  • select an agent who supports the method of selling best suited to your property and your situation
  • interview as many agents as necessary until you find one that you feel comfortable with
never engage an agent you feel uneasy with, or find difficulty in communicating with
  • ask the agent what is their strategy for achieving the highest possible price
  • be careful of agents who quote you a high price only, without explanation of further comment overall
  • don't consider an agent who avoids the 'price issue' with comments such as "it depends on the market"
  • question the skill of an agent who offers very low fees: why are they so keen to win your business
  • always request references, be they verbal or written: you need to confirm the character and ability of the agent you are considering for evidence of happy past clients
  • be careful of 'over the top' presentations: you want to know your agent has a proven track record in selling, negotiating and achieving the best possible price, and how your campaign will be run
  • make sure the agent you interview and select is the one who will personally handle the sale, all the way through
  • ask the agent for their home telephone number or a 24 hour number
